Dear Families,

I am excited and proud to be your principal. I was first drawn to Marylin because of its diversity, and the unique challenges presented to this school. Since starting here, I have learned that Marylin is an exceptional school on the rise. The teachers are extremely dedicated, caring and talented. I have never seen a staff more committed to doing what is best for children. The staff has created a highly effective leadership team, and has begun a process of reform, that includes questioning current practices, looking at research, and analyzing what similar schools are doing.

I am also impressed by the core of parents who have dedicated themselves to making Marylin a better school. While this group of parents is strong, it behooves us to strengthen this home-school connection. I look forward to more parents joining us on the parents volunteer group and School Site committees. Since starting at Marylin, I have met parents whose children have attended Marylin and moved on, substitute and student teachers and community members who have in one way or another wanted to be a part of the Marylin community. Besides wanting to be here to help the students, I believe an equally powerful motivation has been that all of these people feel as if they are part of a family. In the short time I have been here, I have been welcomed by everyone, and made to feel as a part of this same family.  I look forward to working with all of you as we work together to make Marylin Avenue School a gem of the district.

Sincerely,

Jeff Keller
